Metro Atlanta Black bourgeois association
Families all across metro Atlanta are uniting in defense of traditional Black southern values and culture! Ladies and gentlemen it is no secret that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Our children are at stake, Black culture and civilization in the western hemisphere are at stake!
Our children are our responsibility, not the police, social services, charities, midnight basketball or midnight boxing. Our communities are our responsibility. The aesthetics in our communities, that is, whether the streets are clean, safe, and attractive is a reflection of our values. Communities are a reflection of the values of its inhabitants, and in the final analysis as Black Atlanta, the image of our city, and the areas of it that contain us are our responsibility. Our schools can only be as strong as our families. There are no shortcuts. The responsibility for strong nuclear and extended families, as well as strong supporting communities of faith, supporting the academic careers of our children is imperative. There are no shortcuts and the government, big brothers and sisters, sororities and fraternities, and other civic or philanthropic organizations cannot take all the slack for our broken homes and 70% out of wedlock births. It is families, not bickering school boards or superstar CEO style expensive superintendents that sets the tone for high expectations and a quality of education. It is not the students fighting at the bus stop, parents fighting bus drivers at the bus stops, parents fighting each other, etc., etc., We must demand more from ourselves!
I’m not here to tell people how they oughta feel. But I know what our religious traditions teach, I know the Southern Black rural areas that sent its best and brightest, like my mother and father, to Atlanta to make the most of themselves and the opportunities they could encounter in the post-segregation, post-Civil Rights era. I know the Black people from up north and other areas of the country and world I encounter here in Atlanta and how they came here precisely for the ‘slower’ and more traditional values. I know the ‘girls’ and ‘boys’ and their stories who got ‘sent down south’ to grandma’s or auntie’s by concerned parents and relatives after they got into trouble. And never left!

VISION
Our unique interdisciplinary approach to community development centers around strengthening our children’s reading and math skills K-8.

Support &Strength
We draw strength from each other. The onslaught of negative values being pumped from commercial and social media towards African American youth is not just disheartening but dangerous! Those of us that recognize the danger (as we see the effects in our schools and streets) must unite!

Welcome Home
Safe communities should not be a luxury! Safe competitive schools should not be a luxury! Economically diverse and thriving communities should not be a luxury! Join with other families in this Black Bourgeois Revolution!
